Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan sign US$1 billion gas pipeline agreements

The Middle East Gas Company, an Egyptian government-owned firm with a paid-up capital of US$800 million, will transport natural gas under the Mediterranean sea through a 400km (250-mile) pipeline from an area east of the town of El-Arish on the Sinai Peninsula's Mediterranean coast to the northern Lebanese port city of Tripoli near the Syrian border
