Fitch evaluates potential for new nuclear in Central Europe

Arkadiusz Wicik, a director in Fitch's energy, utilities and regulation team, said: "Fitch believes that soaring gas and coal prices, rising electricity prices and decreasing capacity margins in the CE power sector, coupled with growing exposure to carbon dioxide related costs, especially after 2013, may support the business rationale for new nuclear plants in CE countries with a nuclear-supportive framework."
