Low heads to GCF, Seoul


Euan Low – a long-established Asia Pacific infrastructure hand – has started in a new role, at the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in Seoul, South Korea.

Low, who last appeared on IJGlobal as a judge on the APAC panel of independent experts for the IJGlobal Awards 2022, has taken on the role of climate sector lead for energy, industry and transport at the Green Climate Fund.

According to his LinkedIn profile: “My role will be driving the GFC's energy, industry and transport portfolio – assisting public and private sectors in incorporating climate mitigation and adaptation principles by using GCF's wide range of concessional financing instruments to deliver resilient investments giving beneficial socio-economic and environmental impacts.”

Low is Scottish, but has been working across APAC for most of his career first of all rising the role of Japan country manager for Mott MacDonald and then out of Singapore as Asia Pacific infrastructure services director.

He switched roles in November 2018 to work at PwC in Singapore where he remained for more than 4 years before exiting in February 2023 to pursue a career as an independent infrastructure adviser.

He is recognised as one of the region’s most widely experienced engineers, having advised on a slew of urban infrastructure – ranging from renewable energy, waste management, water, wastewater, district cooling, smart transport, railways, roads, ports, airports and real-estate.

However, his exposure to the region also takes in industry having worked on battery ore refining facilities, commodity ores, cement manufacture, synthetic rubber, paper making, to name a few.

He has more than 20 years of experience bringing certainty to decision-makers in project development, implementation, asset management and karaoke.
