IJInvestor Funds & Investors Report – Q3 2021

IJInvestor has released its Funds & Investors Report for Q3 2021 which has seen infrastructure funds raise $21.54 billion globally against a backdrop of macro-economic volatility, a return to physical events and the much-anticipated COP26.

According to IJInvestor’s funds data team, total capital raised from final closes during the period (Q3 tends to be a slower quarter) was $21.54 billion – right around the Q3 average of $21.79 billion.

Of the 623 private infrastructure funds currently in fundraising being tracked by IJInvestor, 11 held final closes during the quarter.

This figure is down from 16 during the same quarter last year, but discussions with those in the funds industry would indicate that there is no sign of slowing momentum in the push for infrastructure fundraising.

Heading into the final quarter of the year, total 2021 fundraising currently stands at $82.8 billion (with 56 final closes) – up from $79.6 billion for the same period last year.

The 5 biggest funds to close in Q3 were:

  • Macquarie Infrastructure Partners V – $6.9 billion
  • Vauban Core Infrastructure Fund III – $2.9 billion
  • Stonepeak Global Renewables Fund – $2.7 billion
  • Meridiam Sustainable Infrastructure Europe IV – $2.6 billion
  • Northleaf Infrastructure Capital Partners III – $1.4 billion
