Turkmenistan deal with Gazprom would affect US plan for trans-Caspian pipeline

The deal being negotiated involves Turkmenistan shipping a massive 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually over 30 years to Gazprom, which in turn could use part of it to increase its supply to the Turkish natural-gas market, one of the fastest growing markets in the world
