US agencies to speed licensing process for hydropower

Among the actions approved are a series of reports identifying procedural and policy changes that are in development; a commitment by Interior and Commerce to establish procedures that will give the public an opportunity to review and provide input on draft mandatory conditions; and endorsement of FERC's alternative licensing procedures which allow the parties to work collaboratively towards consensus-based public interest solutions and to shorten the time needed to process the resulting license applications
